Missions in ZM 3.0

missionScreen_2Missions with combats now show the combat results “in-list”.  There’s some formatting issues which are worked on (see the screenshot).  The “EARNS, REQUIRES, PROGRESS” headers are removed.  This lets us increase the visibility of the display and makes for easier reading and we can increase the Supplies icon and number required.

Similarly, the XP display is being replaced with a simpler “amount remaining” rather than the current convention (this is not yet in the official test build).

We should be able to post some further screenshots in the next day or so showing all the above.

Achievements (which are Amazon only in 3.0, all platforms in 3.1+) are being finalized and squad management also looks tight.  We’re otherwise down to just performing system checks and multi-resolution tests so there’s a potential app store submission in the next day or so following a clean test sweep.

(Of course, Mr. Murphy’s laws can always apply…)  That said, 3.0 release is certainly very soon.

Auto Ally option in ZM 3.0

Zombie Moon 3.0 is nearing completion and we are targeting next week for submission to the three app stores.  That’s pretty exciting!  alliesScreenshot

One enhancement players may find handy is an option to auto-accept ally requests (toggled in the SETTINGS area).  By default, this is OFF for existing players but will start as ON (auto-accept) for new players registering with Zombie Moon 3.0.  Existing players can of course upgrade to ZM 3.0 and change their setting (opting in) when ZM 3.0 goes live in the coming weeks.

 

 

ZM 3.0 Progress Update

ZM 3.0 Item DetailsItems in Zombie Moon 3.0 are shown in three dimensions.  Yep – all of them have full 3-D renders and are beautifully illustrated!  This means we can show all sides of the item when someone selects the detail view – and you can now [DONATE] or [SELL] the items directly from the details view.

A screenshot may help make that clearer.

Even the lowly Command Knife looks great!

Since a whole list of rotating items could quickly become annoying, this effect is not used within the Inventory list itself – only in the detail view and when the item is found within a Supply Drop.

ZM 3.0 : Attack Screen

Combat Screen UZMAs you’ve already seen, the new attack search is significantly improved with Zombie Moon 3.0.

Combat results are now displayed within the attack list (in the Zombie Moon 2.x and earlier, the results showed in a popup screen).

While you cannot see it in a still image, the VICTORY or DEFEAT indicator also has a stylish emerge animation.

Overall, we feel this is a significant improvement and initial feedback from fans we’ve shown it to is very positive.

ZM 3.0 Update – Ally Search

Screenshot of the new ally search.  Had a handful of new bits to show off but selected this one — allies are oh so important.  Note the new “FIND” tab for players – this automatically locates active players you probably want to offer an INVITE to and gives at-a-glance evaluation information (number of open ally slots, level, last activity, etc).

UZM Update

We’re hard at work on the updated Attack displays. Attacking other players now displays the result within the Attack list rather than opening a new popup. A screenshot of the new Attack display itself should be available soon.

Meanwhile, take a peek at the updated home display and Attack List. There’s still refinements to be done (including resolving some overlapping list issues on specific devices) and of course there’s a LOT more to do with version 3.0!

ZM – Ally Search

Ally search is now available in help desk here:

You will need your login, and password. If you forgot your password, this is the URL to use:

This will only show folks that you CAN ally with, who have ally spots, but not existing allies.

We will be adding this feature into the actual game play at a later date, as part of the ZM 3.0 update, but this is the quickest way to get this feature into your hands.

War Reporting – ZM

As you may have heard, we are providing a War Report to leaders of squads. This will enable them to know how much, and how often their team members engage in the wars. For some leaders this is a nice addition, for others this is a critical war management tool.

It’s in beta, so don’t expect too much yet. To get it, leaders MUST have their email addresses up to date in their profiles. This is because it will be an emailed PDF, not in system. This will be live for the existing war, and future wars. This will only be sent to leaders, not assistants.

ZM Squad Chat Spikes Wars – Player Activity Up!

Hey Space Marines,

The transition of World Chat to Squad Chat was an abrupt one.  Our apologies there.  But it has had a good effect on players engagement and numbers. Across the board, there are  more players playing on a daily basis, in pretty much every activity range.

You may not see that as clearly as overall game transparency is obviously hurt, as is finding allies efficiently.  Those are definitely the drawbacks.  So let me give the update on what else is happening due to the changes.

Wars are a LOT more active.  The competition is fierce.  That is pretty transparent actually for anyone who clicks the “Squads” tab — the war score is listed beside each squad name. It’s the number after the tiny shield.  We know Squad chat is helping with war prep; which is cool to see.

As a company we have been able to take those 4 hours a day we were involved in managing and are using them to build a better ZM.  Follow the Zombie Moon Dev Blog here, to get twice weekly updates.  It’s a new part of the SHG site, but you’ll see new visual timbits there twice a week (at least).

We’ve also hired on 2 folks starting July 21st, to work on ZM. That’s a huge win by itself.  We will feature them later, so stay tuned.

Now, what we’re missing are some more social features.  This is especially true for new players. To be fair to ourselves, we’ve added in a prototype of the new player ally and squad matching service.  But it’s not enough for new players, although it’s a reasonable bridge for  new players…at least for the next few weeks until the new ZM is launched.

We also need to add in more social features for experienced players — Do we create “Squad Families” where the squad chat of 3 different but allied squads are merged into one?  Do we enable Level 400 players to start their own chat inviting 20 or so players max, and moderate it as they like (desired by some, but huge red flags to review there)?  Do we do a dozen other creative ideas that we have for socialisation?

Well we do know that we’ll be adding much better ways to find allies (auto suggested allies, and more), plus a great new social intro for new players with or without a new player chat.  And a lot of other non-social features too…such as squads and entire game vs. Boss NPCs etc.

One interesting outcome of these changes is that the game will be able to be localised in the fall. Without World Chat to regulate, we can actually get ZM into the hands of many more, from many more places.

ZM Updates in the Mix

Howdy-ho, our lovely players!

We just wanted to show loyal ZM Players another snippet from the upgraded game. This is a small, subtle change but one we like. Notice how the progress bars for drops are now segmented?  That way you can tell what remains, and what’s to come. A small but cool little feature.
